Jason and Amanda Joy Wells were thirty-something newlyweds who, two weeks after tying the knot in spring 2009, moved into their first home, a beautifully preserved 1949 one owner home filled with charming character (and lots of potential)...not to mention the giant workshop and all the fruiting trees and bushes in the back yard. This site is meant to document the evolution of this house into their home as well as all of the events, occasions and happenings in and around it.

Reconstruction

This shows the very beginning of a process that made me think that Hell should be being forced to scrape and texture walls for the rest of eternity. The thing that got me through was knowing how stunning it was going to look when I eventually finished.

The Deconstruction

On May 15th we got the keys to our home....we joked that we were going to have the bed in the back of the truck when we went to closing. It didn't work out that way, but the bed was in the livingroom by 3pm. Bright and early-ish the next morning deconstruction commenced.
We love this house, but the paneling had to go...what a chore that became, but well worth it to have flat, smooth walls.
Beyond the paneling was two layers of wallpaper that had to be dealt with...by hand......until we discovered that the compressor hose and orbital sander made the job much more fun.
